Creating Custom Cutscenes

The Scene Selection form allows you to select a cutcene for a level or gate. Click on a cutscene to select it.

You can also create custom cutscenes, or edit an existing custom cutscene. To create a cutscene, click the "Create New" button at the bottom of the Cutscene Selection form. To edit an existing custom cutscene, click the edit button () to the right of the cutscene. Either action pops up the Cutscene Detail form:

Cutscene Detail Graphics Tab

The layout of the Cutscene Detail form depends on whether the cutscene is for a level or a gate. The Cutscene Detail for a level has two tabs, and opens on the Graphic tab that allows you to select a graphic for the cutscene.
Field Description
Language The Language dropdown in the upper right of the Cutscene Detail form specifies the language of its Name and text fields. Use the dropdown to switch between languages and specify text in any or all supported languages.
Name The name of the cutscene. This name is only shown to players editing a map. It is never shown during gameplay.
Page Selection Level cutscenes can have any number of pages, each with its own graphic and text. During a game, players move from page to page of a cutscene by clicking it. The page selection section of the Cutscene Detail form contains four buttons that allow you to add, delete, and view pages from a cutscene.

The page selection section is not shown for gate cutscenes, as these can have only one page.
Button Description
Delete Page The Delete Page button deletes the currently displayed page. It is disabled if there is only one page in the cutscene.
The page selection buttons allow you to change pages. The button moves to the previous page; and the button moves to the next page. The numbers between the buttons show the current page number and the total number of pages, separated by a slash.
Add Page The Add Page button adds a mew page to the cutscene that immediately precedes the currently-displayed page.
Graphic The graphic on the selected page of the cutscene. Pressing the Graphic button pops up a File Selection form allowing you to select a jpg or png image for the cutscene image. The editor displays the selected graphic below the button. You must specify a graphic for every page of the cutscene to enable the Save button.
graphic overlay text You can use the input field below the graphic name to enter text displayed on top of the graphic. This is optional; if this field is left blank, no text is displayed over the graphic.

Cutscene Detail Scene Text Tab

The Cutscene Detail Scene Text tab allows you to specify text for the cutscene that is displayed below the cutscene's graphic. All cutscenes (both level and gate) must have scene text, and the Save button is disabled until you specify scene text.

Although you must specify scene text for a gate, you can override a gate's scene text in a hotspot using the gate. This allows the same gate cutscene to be used for multiple hotspots, with different text in each.

Cutscene Detail Gate Text Tab

The Cutscene Detail for Gate Text tab is available only for gate cutscenes. It allows you to specify text that follows the scene text depending on whether or not the player is able to open the gate.

Field Description
Language The Language dropdown in the upper right of the Cutscene Detail form specifies the language of its text fields. Use the dropdown to switch between languages and specify text in any or all supported languages.
Name The name of the cutscene. This name is only shown to players editing a map. It is never shown during gameplay.
Open Specifies text that follows the scene text when the gate can be opened. This text normally informs the player that they have enough of the resource consumed by the gate to open it, and tells them how much will be consumed if they elect to open the gate.
Closed Specifies text that follows the scene text when the player is unable to open the gate.
Closed Text Replaces Screen Text When checked, the text for "Closed" completely replaces the scene text (instead of following it) when the player has insufficient resources to open the gate.
